TK Elevator shaped the future of urban mobility at CTBUH 2025 Toronto

As a Platinum Member at CTBUH 2025 in Toronto, TK Elevator showcased its vision for integrated, sustainable urban mobility. Through workshops and key presentations, the company highlighted its TWIN technology and digital solutions designed to make cities more connected, accessible, and people-centered.

TK Elevator (TKE), a global leader in vertical transportation and urban mobility, took part as a platinum member at the 2025 CTBUH international conference “From the Ground Up : Tall Buildings and City-Making” in Toronto. As an active participant in CTBUH’s global and regional initiatives, TKE showcased its commitment to people-centric, future-ready urban environments by leading workshops and presenting its pioneering TWIN technology. Organized by the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat, the conference is the world’s largest event on vertical urbanism and city development, bringing together over 1,500 participants from more than 50 countries and more than 200 speakers.

Key conference presentations by TKE thought leaders explored how mobility solutions could connect people and places from the ground up, across, and beyond, redefining accessibility and the lived experience in high-density urban environments. The concept was to create a connected mobility ecosystem across all levels – from underground train stations, to ground level public areas through to buildings and high-rise – for a seamless passenger experience. TKE’s research publication, “The Space Beyond : Connecting people and places beyond the Elevator shaft towards urban accessibility”, featured in the conference proceedings, underlining the company’s vision for integrated and inclusive urban accessibility, ensuring accessibility for all.

Workshop (Monday, October 6, 2025)

“Expanding the dimension of urban mobility” explored how innovative design and technology could improve user experiences and mobility patterns in both existing and repurposed buildings. Markus Schlichter, Head of Global High Rise at TKE, presented “TWIN – Flexibility by design, adaptability by software”, highlighting the innovative TWIN elevator system, which featured two independent cabins in one shaft, offering maximum flexibility and adaptability to evolving customer needs.

Javier Sesma, SVP Global Business Development at TKE, presented “Connecting people and places from the ground up, across and beyond”, focusing on strategies to connect tall buildings and public spaces physically and socially, and on advancing urban accessibility and inclusiveness.

Toronto was home to several of TKE’s most iconic projects, including the CIBC Tower and Toronto Pearson International Airport. These references showcase TKE’s broad portfolio, from digitally connected elevators for low, mid and high-rise to escalators, moving walkways, passenger boarding bridges.
