Life Cycle Management 2017 Luxembourg, 3 - 6 September, 2017

LCM attracts a blend of academics and industrial partners, all of whom are pushing for cutting-edge technology and solutions to steer our globe towards a more sustainable path. Bertrand Piccard shares the same ideas, and we are very thankful and honored that he is able to present for us this September.

Most recently, Swiss-born Bertrand Piccard founded and co-piloted the Solar Impulse project, where he and André Borschberg flew 40,000 kilometers around the world using energy only from the sun. The project, 13 years in the making, was designed to showcase the possibility of clean technologies to the world.

In the wake of the first ever solar flight around the world, accomplished by Bertrand Piccard and André Borschberg, the Solar Impulse Foundation is launching the World Alliance for Efficient Solutions – a second phase in the realization of Bertrand Piccard’s vision that clean technologies can accomplish impossible goals and offer tangible solutions to solve many of the challenges facing global society today.

As Bertrand Piccard said upon the final landing in Abu Dhabi “what Solar Impulse has demonstrated should now be taken further.” Now, the goal of the Solar Impulse Foundation and the freshly launched World Alliance for Efficient Solutions is to demonstrate which solutions are available to deliver on environmental and health targets. If an airplane can fly around the world without a drop fuel, clean technologies can undoubtedly be implemented on the ground to make a cleaner, more efficient and richer world.
