Why to you pin bees ? 🐝 Pinning is a key step for the long-term maintenance of dry insect specimens in natural history collections. Properly mounted specimens allow for adequate handling and examination, minimizing potential damage and identification mistakes.

How to do it ? 📍🏷 For specimens preserved in ethanol, standard pinning techniques usually involve four main steps : washing,mounting, labeling and drying. We will discuss them on the workshop.
