Cooling Hearts in the Heatwave

Cooling Hearts in the Heatwave

We want to give a massive shout-out to our incredible volunteers who hit the streets during the gruelling two-week heatwave ! While most people were seeking air conditioning, these amazing teams were out on the ground, well-prepared, making sure our community stayed safe, hydrated, and cared for.

The reality of climate change is right on our doorstep. We recently witnessed the hottest June day ever recorded since measurements began in 1947. Global warming is no longer a distant warning – it is our current reality, and we can no longer ignore it. As extreme weather events become more frequent, we have to actively work on building our collective resilience.

The good news ?

Citizens and volunteers are a massive part of the solution ! We must continue to step up and support vulnerable people in our communities. During extreme weather, they are always the most at risk.

You don’t need a volunteer vest to make a difference ! This summer, we encourage everyone to take a moment to look out for those around you. Check in on your elderly neighbours, offer a cold bottle of water to delivery drivers or outdoor workers, and keep an eye on anyone who might be struggling in the heat.

A small gesture can save a life !

Thank you to everyone who showed up, carried water, and brought a smile to those who needed it most. We are always stronger when we look out for one another !
