Over the four days nearly 100 speakers from all over the world will gather to discuss the quest for better lives. Around the world, governments are moving beyond Gross Domestic Product and looking for new metrics of social progress such as the Sustainable Development Goals or national well-being indicators, much like the Luxembourg PIBien-etre. This quest, however, is far from settled, indeed flourishes, with more contributors than ever. How do we promote well-being ? What are the best policies ? What is the role for civil society ? How can well-being research inform decision making ? And, most importantly, in a world where economic, social and environmental challenges are growing, how do we achieve social progress to deliver inclusive and sustainable well-being ?

The program of the conference is available on the website www.wellbeing2022.lu/program. The conference will start on Wednesday the 1st of June with a workshop by Ruut Veenhoven, one of the fathers of the research on well-being. He will illustrate how the World Happiness Database can be used for research purposes. At 5:00 pm the American writer and film-maker, John De Graaf, will open the conference with an inspiring talk, before giving the floor to the Ministry of the Economy, Mr. Franz Fayot, for a welcoming address.

The conference will feature various thematic sessions and four keynote speeches by prominent experts. The confirmed keynote speakers include : Stefano Bartolini (University of Siena), Andrew Clark (Paris School of Economics), Carol Graham (Brookings Institution), and Andrew Oswald (University of Warwick).

On Thursday morning, Dr. Serge Allegrezza will moderate a roundtable to discuss advantages, disadvantages and limitations of the approaches to integrate well-being in policy-making. The list of panelists include international representatives of institutions, such as Nancy Hay (What Works Wellbeing Center, United Kingdom), Katherine Scrivens (OECD Center for Well-being, Inclusion, and Equal Opportunity), and members of the Parliament of Luxembourg.

For more information on the conference, check the website www.wellbeing2022.lu.
