Risk Manager (m/f)

What you can expect

The Risk Manager is responsible for the translation of the company’s risk appetite and risk policies into the daily business for Bâloise Assurances Luxembourg S.A. and Bâloise Vie Luxembourg S.A..

Reporting lines

  • The Risk Manager reports to the Director Head of Risk Management, Product & Services Local Market with an additional reporting line to the Group CEO
  • The Risk Manager is the first point of contact for the national competent authorities with respect to risk related topics and appointed as Solvency II key function holder Risk Management

The Risk Manager is responsible for :

  • Assisting the Board, management or supervisory body and other management in the effective operation of the risk management system
  • Fostering and maintaining an Enterprise Risk Management mindset and culture across the entire organisation(s), including creating and maintaining a level of risk awareness at senior level and in the entire company
  • Reporting to management via ALCO–RICO (Asset Liability and Risk Committee) on risk exposure and advising management on risk-related matters
  • Leading the company’s Solvency II reporting process, namely Pillar II and Pillar III reporting requirements
  • Asset-Liability Management
  • Evaluating the design and effectiveness of the risk management system and report findings
  • Cooperating closely with other key functions
  • Internal Control System :
  • - Organization of control effectiveness tests and annual control cycle

- Assess the approprateness of the internal control system including the need for adaptations

- Prepare formal sign-offs and ensure communication to responsible decision bodies

- Analysis of operational losses

  • Performing ad-hoc analyses and quality reviews

What we expect

  • Experience in the risk management domain, in alignment with CAA requirements for key function holder :

- a diploma of at least four years of higher education in law, economics or actuarial sciences in combination with professional experience in the risk management domain of at least three years within the insurance and reinsurance sector for both Life and Non-Life business ; or

- professional experience in the risk management domain of at least ten years within the insurance and reinsurance sector for both Life and Non-Life business

  • Strong reporting skills, high degree of independence, affinity with financial markets, fund management, actuarial calculations and insurance concepts (Life and Non-Life)
  • Relevant experience in a governance driven domain
  • Ability to assimilate and understand a mass of information from a variety of sources in the organization
  • People management skills, capacity to lead and create an adequate working environment
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, fluent in English and French. German is considered as an asset in the communication with Head Office
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team environment
  • Excellent IT skills, in particular MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • Occasional business travel
